Looking Inward

Walk one way then another,

Just to understand,

All the bips and byways,

That life and fate will hand.

Peace in regularity,

Lies not in what is done.

Consistency of the mind,

The only thing to be won.

For billions of minds do struggle,

To live and walk with peace,

But the only task we’re given,

Is to set our hearts at ease.

You will not change another,

‘Tis only influence that may be,

Seek first to change your eyes,

‘Tis then that you will see.

You cannot change their vision,

Nor the way they think.

Look within for beauty,

And there lies peace’s link.

Full Circle

What was before,

Must now return,

Those vital truths,

I had to learn.

Though cast aside,

For truth abroad,

The understanding of man,

Under the provision of God.

Now, that chapter,

Has met its close.

And the direction of ego,

I do not know.

But one thing is certain,

This new course the key,

The former now renewed,

Will soon make me free.

Progression

Time across time a loss,

What was does not remain.

Though setting may stay constant,

Perceptions always change.

Some spend their whole lives mourning,

For what was and what should be,

Making loss the gifts of now,

Condemning what will be.

Stand up and look around!

You relic of past good times.

See what life now offers,

When embraced and not passed by.

For that of then was beauty true,

And should be seen as so.

But perceive it now as fabric,

In the makings of your soul.

Feeling Judged

Your finished product.

Is that all you desire?

For my perfection to cradle you,

A request that makes me tire.

Do you not think I’m trying,

To be a righteous man?

Forgive me, do not shun me,

You judgers of this land.

You wait for my expressions,

And prepare for what they hold.

This pressure you place upon me,

Causes me to mold!

Where I go now I’m unaware,

Who’ll I’ll be I do not know.

But one thing I can guarantee,

These struggles make me grow.

For one day I shall look at you,

Apathetic to what you see,

Your reactions will not hinder,

For I’ll have peace of mind with me.

The Teacher’s Poem

The contrast of my soul,

Events run rampant wild,

The world still turns despite my change,

I’m forced to sit and smile.

What irony that who I was,

Is now who I must face,

Looking just for answers,

Looking just for grace.

My advice to you is simple,

But some you will not take,

Facts will not fulfill you,

Your mindset you must break.

For knowledge does come simple,

But does not give you peace,

Its passion you desire,

To set your heart at ease.

I tell you as a veteran,

Of analyzing life,

Find joy in what’s around you,

Put passion in your sight.

Apathy & Security

Smooth and flowing life should be,

Or simply mine I’ve come to see.

For others have less precedence,

In forming what I seek.

Am I so rigid not to find,

Amongst the anarchy peace of mind?

Or am I so filled with apathy,

That on principles I will not lean?

What line exists between the two,

That affirms them both and makes them true?

Should one seek first the life of ease,

Or build a life on securities?

Both sides the other compliments,

For values do bring confidence,

And such security brings ease from peace,

Are we then to seek stability?

In rigidity all you’ll see,

Is a “Wisdom of Man” dependency.

Such incompleteness brings loss not life,

Unless humor exists to deter the mind.

My charge is this: do not pursue,

Anything but what’s between the two.

You see one boxes life and the other jests of it,

But both hold life with wonderment.

So understand and enjoy what comes,

Write reports and sing the psalms.

But first and foremost with earnest seek,

To appreciate life’s intricacies.

Peace in the Storm

Such Intensity. Can I pass through?

Will I regress to my former view?

Can I stand up and be a man?

Will I purge forth and make my stand?

I wish to rise, embrace my views,

But temptations come and make askew,

All self- esteem. Then I become,

The child again, the broken one.

He promised me, from the tree,

If I have faith, He’ll calm the sea.

Yet faith in Him lies first with me,

To stand for Him and make my plea.

To stand for God and then get peace,

I must have strength that will not cease.

Such is found, in principles,

Values, virtues; all are told,

Within the Word of Life I see,

The standards for dependency.

So while my heart is weak to gain,

Peace in the clash and in the rain,

I’m given hope in God’s great grace,

To have a guide and complete this race.

Hopes & Dreams

Lie not down and sleep away,

All that life can offer you.

Awake! Embrace the simple truth,

That conscious dreams will get you through.

Sadness, hardships, anxiety;

May plague a broken heart.

But hopes and dreams will always mend,

What the past has torn apart.

Fear not this tearing, tomorrow holds,

Not dread of broken dreams.

With hopeful and pure perceptions,

There are opportunities.
