An Uttered Compliment

I have mere words to reflect my cause,

That won’t do justice on endearing pause.

But given the language and circumstance,

Putting pen to page I’ll take a chance.

With integrity at the forefront of all great things,

And compassion, its backup and the wind for its wings,

With a God and a Savoir guiding our way,

Through the storms and the hardships we face everyday,

It’s an honor to serve and walk with you,

A light in the darkness a gem in plain view.

I will never forget the kindness you give,

In its unwavering nature, as long as I live.

The Declaration of a Withered Man

Look at me I do decay.

I’m withered and worn in every way.

But a change occurs within my heart,

And this, my son, is how it starts:

With dreams of passion growing deep,

My swelling heart won’t miss a beat,

Embracing dreams, ambitions drive;

The stigma of my heart’s own cry.

I am but simply what you see,

Until I rise passionately.

Then I become a man of dreams,

Overflowing with vitality.

Now learn this my son, my legacy;

Though I do look worn and elderly,

I am fueled and driven still,

By persistence and a passionate will.

So as you age just as I,

Look with hope, do not deny;

The ability within your heart,

To live a life of passionate art.

Not Abandoned

I’ve wondered down this path of life,

Ever searching for a dream,

Unaware of all the fantasies,

I’ve searched for desperately.

Don’t know how long I’ve tried,

To seek the thoughts unknown.

My brow is dampened by my strain,

I’m cold and I feel alone.

Who would have thought life to be this way?

There’s something missing I begin to sway,

I need find focus, today’s the day,

I see God is in control.

Conformity

Lines binding reality,

Demand constant conformity.

Perception demands our nurturing,

For the reality we create.

But what if for one moment,

The walls began to shake,

Without any destruction,

But to constantly vibrate.

Would this enigma cause chaos,

And cause insanity to the mind?

Or would the world become philosophical,

And accept it over time?

Don’t be so quick to assume,

Your world will stay the same.

Of matter we don’t comprise,

This perception is just a frame.

Memories

When time runs out,

What will I see?

A quilt of memories,

Patched intrinsically?

Or like a breeze in the forest,

Fast fading in my gaze,

With only scrapbooks and legends,

To lessen my daze.

But for now I will focus,

Like and oak in its youth,

To make firm foundations,

By strengthening my roots.

For my hope must remain,

That my memories will be,

Ever present and alive,

In the roots of this tree.

Human Reasoning

Frustrations, how interesting.

One day so prominent,

The next one non-existing.

What sayest thou,

Interpreter of this and that?

Do you think it’s part of the scheme,

You’re always talking about?

I don’t know, good sir,

I think you never knew,

Why these tides,

Do turn waves ablue.

Yes, my friend,

I speak from heart.

Such is the silliness of life,

Where reason plays no part.

One thing is certain,

Though emotions run high,

When Love is a constant,

We discover a new “Why”.

Reconciled to Love

What to see? Two of me, in an image of irony.

Could it be? Is it she, in shadows of destiny?

But tomorrow there’s no sorrow, Only hope even narrow;

That beside me, still alive in me, is the peace of regularity.

No more games, only truth whether bitter or sweet coming.

‘Tis worth it facing truth than worries even stunning.

But no rush and no fuss. For what will be may come fast.

But hush and do not brush off the wonders that may pass.

So sleep well understanding Learn to live and not let pass,

The could bes, would bes, maybes that may brighten or shatter glass.

For that is just how precious life and love can be,

Such strength within its beauty yet in fear full of frailty.

Someday

Someday I will find my way.

Someday I will smile and say,

“I’m here. I’ve arrived at this place meant for me”,

And I’ll pinch myself thinking this must be a dream.

Someday I’ll wake owning my reality.

Someday I’ll take each breath in with serenity.

The light will be brighter, the sun my close friend,

And darkness my blanket hopeful rain will set in.

Someday I’ll feel safe with the Lord at my side.

Someday I’ll have purpose to which I abide.

I’ll never feel lonely or lost in confusion,

I’ll not question my character as a social intrusion.

Someday I’ll be free with no bondage in sight.

Someday I’ll be secure in my pursuit and my plight.

It’s that day which I hope for and in faith I believe,

Is a gift from my Savior I look forward to receive.

Who am I to take it from them?

Who am I to take it from them?

I take their hits, abide their lies,

Smile as they think up an alibi.

But who am I to take it from them?

In one moment they joke and jest,

But the next they curse and regress.

But who am I to take it from them?

Thinking I have their affection and praise,

And knowing without drama they are quite malaise.

But who am I to take it from them?

Me, this poet, who observes this sight,

Is using the same ability they abuse by night.

But who am I to take it from them?

It’s their right. It’s not mine to deny.

What if these tears are not mine to cry?

For who am I to take it from them?

If the Alpha and Omega lets us all choose,

Then who am I to damn those who abuse?

And who am I to take it from them?

As choice was given freely to me,

So I must respect it as given to thee.

For who am I to take it from them?

Whether friend, foe, brother or none;

They belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son.

So who am I to take it from them?

A Note of Purpose (The expansion of “Pursuing Wisdom”)

It is clear to me upon my thought,

An element which I have sought.

That the pinnacle of my hopes and dreams,

Is at the heart of my essence and soul it seems.

I can only relate it with analogy:

The language of dreamers, eloquently.

I relate it to the use of a tool,

And when I am finished you’ll think me a fool.

But for those of you who, as I, have sought,

The peace of mind with purpose-filled thought.

And for those of you who have been entangled,

In contradiction with action & emotion strangled.

With determination set to accomplish,

But action fruitless and hope undistinguished.

I ask: do you run the race just as I,

With a wish and a mission reaching up to the sky?

Do you feel like your potential could power the earth,

But the fruit of your efforts diminish your worth?

Then let me relate this lesson to you,

So we both may be strengthened with purpose renewed.

I relate our plight to the use of a song.

Do you remember at all the use of a song?

Do you recall in youth owning a track,

Of music or songs that would instantly enact,

An emotion or thought that filled a void,

The world couldn’t accomplish, no words could employ.

Whether joy or anger; discovery or malaise,

The music would connect, bringing clarity amidst haze.

And maybe for some that moment was brief,

And for others it would bring a lasting relief.

But note the exception. Behold the unique,

Unlike other facets you occasionally seek.

There’s a connection, a moment, a feeling, a flow;

Despite impending chaos you were able to “Let go”.

I assure you the power lies not in the notes.

‘Tis internal foundation that revives the hope.

For the circumstance was variable and the faces would change,

But the pressure valve within has always remained,

Beside your heart always close to you,

The choice of your attitude in plain view.

So why can’t I change if the answer so clear,

Truth lies in the example of the music you’d hear.

You see, the music meant nothing: T’was the connection, the flow;

That relieved your heart of burden and woe.

So what then now? Should I search for a song,

That will give me purpose and that which I long.

I would say such an effort is a short-term release,

If you wish to pursue a heart full of peace.

Don’t limit yourself to salvation in a song,

But seek out igniters that will help you belong,

To the fellowship of you the council of three,

Your Lord, your love, your life need be;

That which you hope, that which you pursue;

Let all others unhealthy with conviction be through.

You see it is simple, just ignite perspective;

With principles in place you’ll become reflective,

On direction, guidance, peace, and purpose.

Because a life without these it utterly worthless.
