Susan’s Song

In Memory of my dear wife’s mother, Susan Simmone, who departed from us to be with Jesus on February 6, 2015

Susan’s Song

Be not there a sullen cryDSC01584
Despairing now for me.
Many wonder why,
Afraid of passing by,
And yet the time is nigh,
For precious memories.

In youth I played and grew
Ne’er missing childhood joy.
Each day was bright and true,
Regrets were but a few,
For my heart was made anew,
By my Savior Jesus Christ.

I lived and laughed with you.002Baby Daphne & Mom
We sang, we worked, we cried.
Ever mindful to imbue,
A love, which was the glue,
Our friendship always knew,
That no one could deride.

T’was then He granted me,
My precious little girl.
And I was blessed to see,
Her grow and love so deeply.
I am so proud of my Daphne,
More than anything in the world.

So be not there a sullen cry
Despairing now for me.
I do not wonder why,
Eternity is mine,
And yet the time is nigh,
For precious memories.

Kingdom Fellowship

There are times that friendship,
Is unbarred and flows freely,
No oddities or hindrances,
No confinement of propriety.
This, the goal of fellowship,
Though torrid life confines,
By the loyalties we make,
To priorities ill-defined.
In these precious moments,
Let us with great excitement,
Embrace our brother and sister,
With joy and fulfillment,
For this is a shadow,
Of our coming home,
Where love everlasting,
Is continually sown.
Can we, beyond what is natural,
Today seek to be,
Instruments of Christ’s love,
Instigators of unity?

Temporary Loneliness

Embarking now to solitude,
I’m left with one intent,
To establish lasting fortitude,
And seek to implement,
A demeanor of grace and kindness,
Devoid of expectation,
In their faults submit to blindness,
Without any hesitation.
Yet while lovely this may seem,
It does incur a loss,
For I do abandon a dream,
Unfulfilled and left to dross.
I’d hoped for association,
And a journey to the end,
With companions of inspiration,
Rightly vulnerable and genuine,
But alas it is not to be,
I am to venture forth alone,
Passionately free,
While marching towards my home.
I am hopeful for tomorrow,
In the light of Heaven’s promise,
There will surely be no sorrow,
Despair or loneliness.
